Coffee in food: not only drinking coffee but eating it; too!

Imagine yourself in kitchen preparing food. You grab a cup of coffee and…what is going on here? You are not going to drink the coffee but to put it in your food! This blog is all about combining food with coffee!

NEW WAYS OF UTILIZING COFFEE

Now we want to take you a bit further with us. Have you ever glanced through a food recipe and found out there is coffee included? Yes, we too! But usually it is in marinade or baking, right? Now let’s see what else we can do with a cup of joe and how delicious dishes we can create seasoning food with coffee! Here are some recipes that we have tried out ourselves.
What if you would serve the salad with…
Coffee vinaigrette:
1 table spoon of ground black pepper
1 table spoon of ground sea salt
1 table spoon of honey
0,5 deciliters of sherry vinegar
1 deciliter of filter coffee
2 deciliters of canola oil
2 deciliters of olive oil
fresh mint or fresh flat leaf parsley
  1. Mix all the ingredients in a blender to create a smooth sauce.
How about trying the next level breakfast and serving…
Coffee glazed bacon:
400 g cooked, smoked bacon
2 deciliters of espresso coffee
1 deciliter of maple syrup
1 deciliter of cane sugar
  1. Warm the oven up to +200 Celsius.
  2. Line up the bacon slices on an oven tray.
  3. Mix the coffee, the syrup and the sugar together. Apply the mixture on top of the slices.
  4. Roast the bacon for 5 minutes and turn the slices upside down.
  5. Apply the mixture on the other side of the slices and roast another 5 minutes.
Why not to try something else to go with your veggies and prepare…
Coffee and black bean dip:
550 g of baked black beans
80 g butter
1 chopped onion
1 tablespoon of chili flakes
1 tablespoon of basil & garlic seasoning
1 tablespoon of oregano
1 tablespoon of sugar
0,5 tablespoon of caraway
1 deciliter of filter coffee
1 deciliter of veggie broth
  1. Melt the butter in a wide kettle.
  2. Cook the onion on a low heat for 10 minutes to make it transparent.
  3. Add the spices and the beans and cook them on a mid heat for a couple of minutes.
  4. Add the sugar, stir well and pour the mixture to a blender.
  5. Add the coffee and the broth and mix everything to create a smooth paste.
Who would have guessed, that the spread inside the delicious sandwiches is…
Coffee hummus:
5 deciliters of baked chickpeas
4 garlic cloves
1 deciliter of sesame seeds
0,5 deciliter of olive oil
0,5 deciliter of filter coffee
2 tea spoons of salt
2 tea spoons of citric acid
juice of one lemon
  1. Mix all the ingredients in a blender to create a smooth sauce.
